I had the honor of photographing Susanna this past weekend in her Baltimore home. She's transformed the blank slate of her 1870s rowhouse apartment into a beautifully personal space. Color, vintage, and intrigue abound. Below, I'll place an excerpt from her blog, This Old Fashioned Heart, then let the photos do the rest of the explaining. (Also, Susanna's post from this day.)

"I only had a measly two things on my wish-list when I was looking for an apartment: original hardwood floors, and a paint color on the walls that didn’t scream for attention, so I could at last erect my dream of a salon wall that had been in chrysalis for so long. Eight months later, it had become a despairing parade of molding St. Valentine’s red carpet, an apartment building whose face was three stories of doors to nowhere, and landlords who wives “accidentally” post photos of a significantly roomier and more expensive apartment, for what was really an attic, with eaves so low-sloping, a tenant is fated to either be perpetually concussed or a hunchback. In what was a Christmas miracle, I did land a spacious apartment in a 1870s rowhouse, with the original hardwood floors and walls that do not assault tired eyes."
