Washington DC Newborn Family Photos at Home

This spring I headed into Washington DC for newborn family photos with Aarti and Dom! I was so excited to see them again. If you're a long-time blog-reader, you might remember their gorgeous Virginia wedding where a huge storm rolled through the ceremony and then a rainbow came out. It was a crazy storm, but they stayed calm, had a blast running through the rain together, and the wedding was a huge success. :D Fast-forward four years and they are about to have a baby during the COVID-19 pandemic and massive Black Lives Matter protests all around the US, including downtown DC. They raced to the hospital after not being able to get there earlier because of the protests, were hurriedly tested for COVID-19, and had a baby less than 2 hours later. Their test results still hadn't come back when baby was born so they were both wearing tight N95 masks when they met their son, surrounded by doctors in hazmat suits. Shortly after, the tests came back negative and all the masks and suits came off. I have obviously been as careful as possible while photographing families during this craziness, wearing a mask the whole time, using hand sanitizer like crazy, and doing as much of the session outside as we can with a sensitive newborn. I am so thankful to be witnessing these huge landmark stages of this family's life - the same goes for all of my clients.
